Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
8 GoodGymers ran to a local community garden, shifted and arranged some wood, ran back for circuits
Met by several enthusiastic heroes and heroines in the Aquatics Centre, they stoically showed up on a dark and rainy November evening.
We had a little chit chat, then leapt out into the drizzle. One set of quick of drills to get heart rates and temperature up. Then a quick run through the awesome achievements of the group in the last week. Starting with Rodrigo's tenth consecutive task in a row, that's consistent. After a few hiccups, he persevered and made it happen. It also turns out that Siobhan has completed 10 in a row too, though with other GoodGyms areas, really stacking up those good deeds. Violeta completed a Half Marathon in San Sebastian and paced it like a true pro. Karen made her second run on the trot, a great addition to our team she is. Alice braved a cold to help out in the rain and Tim signed up to Strava - bloody marvellous stuff.
We went through our weekly random question section "what's your favourite sandwhich?"....there were some classics in there. But seriously, you can't beat a good bacon sandwhich..... just saying.
With our grumbling stomachs, full of sandwich dreams, we made the short 1mile journey to Mobile Garden City. It was an in and out job. Moving and categorising timber by its size, 15mins later we were done, with a little arm workout...and no splinters or lacerations from rusty nails. I'll take that as a win!
Finishing off our evening with an upper body workout. Most runners have frail upper bodies that would tremble at the thought of a couple press ups, or an arm wrestle...with their granny. So we worked on our weaknesses. 4 exercises x 2 . A bit of arm, chest and core work, to sprinkle on top of a lovely evening's work.
Next week is Social Week...I promise. Sign up and see you there!
