Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Wahoooo, 11 amazing goodgymmers ran 2.5km and did about 10000 squats AND helped paint a room in some sheltered housing. Boom! Legends.
First of all big shoutouts to the goodgym noobs, Emma, Hannah, Bryan (Andy) and Alex. You all did an absolutely amazing job at everything and it was so good to meet you all!
We started off on Haven Green, Ankit was running a little late but (un)luckily had time to change and didn't have to do the run in his work clothes again. That was such a good day...anyway I digress, we began with a nice warmup to get the blood pumping on this chilly January evening. So it was some nice dynamic movements, some single leg deddys, some bounding and some short sprints just to let the body know what's coming hehehe.
And then it was off up Castlebar Hill, the nice gradual 1km killa! That some of us know so well! And we arrived at the sheltered accommodation to the always warm welcome from Sandra! As the room to be painted was quite wee, we split up into two groups for a lovely fitness session focussing mainly on the quads and the glutes and the CALVES...oocha boy I will be feeling that tomorrow, thankyou Emma and Hannah! We did sprints, squats, lunge walk (ma fave), calve raises, carioca steps and a good little full body session from Andy too! We are smashing the January fitness.
Not only that, everyone got well stuck into the painting, making short work of most of the room and a cupboard in just 30 minutes. The room was looking so much brighter and better after the skilful painting!
And before we knew it we were off, we did a quick 10s sprint on the spot countdown to get the heart pumping and shot back down Castlebar (always much nicer on the way back down)and were back and stretching off on Haven Green. To continue the theme of the speed, Alex came up with a pun in literally record time, big thankyou to Alex for saving me hours of brainpower this evening hehe!
And next week we will be going back to finish off and tidy up the paintwork, so it would be awesome to see you all there!! Sign up here.
