Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Following a change to the advertised schedule 12 GG runners abandoned their paint brushes and headed to South Street Park for an Easter litter hunt. Rumours that this may be connected in some way to the absence of GG painter-in-chief Fi have yet to be substantiated although she was reportedly seen running from Tuesday GG with 10 litres of magnolia emulsion , three paint rollers and a suitably maniacal laugh.
The run to the park was very pleasant given that someone had apparently forgotten to mention to the weather that it was in fact a Bank Holiday leading to a warm and sunny morning.
Once there, we were met by twins Isaac and Reuben who promptly arrived on their bikes and - perhaps sensing some inexperience in the day's run leader - quickly set about organising everyone in a very efficient manner.
With a keen eye for items of litter both large and small the boys rode their bikes to each offending item before announcing 'Crime scene! I need back up!' to alert the nearest GG member to the peril.
(Isaac and Reuben - if you are reading this then thank you very much for your help, you are a credit to your parents and you will both be very welcome as GG members when you are a little older.)
In this way, the park was cleared in 45 mins flat and after the boys had directed our group photos there was plenty of time to take a longer run back along the Chocolate path - which seemed appropriate.
Thanks so much to everyone for giving up their Easter Saturday - particularly Sarah who came out on her only rest day and Lindsey for making this her first Saturday run with us. You are all amazing people!
Lastly but by no means leastly, huge congratulations to Deb on her 100th good deed - surely the fastest 100 in Bristol. Thanks for being a good sport and donning the Centurion costume - and thanks for bringing the Easter eggs we failed to find on our hunt.
