8 people ran 7k to complete a litter pick on our adopted part of the canal for the Canal and River Trust
Tonight we were doing our Canal duties as we were on our adopted part of the canal. Our job is to keep it clean so that’s what we do! We set off onto the canal, we were glad of Fiona’s head torch as it was the first ‘dark task’ since last winter! As we were a little lighter on numbers than usual the group all worked together walking up the canal picking up the litter. We arrived at Aston Lock with three bulging sacks, hence the pun. A quick picture and then it was off to Millennium point for the first one mile time-trial in a while.
Time is of the essence
The group gave it a right good blast. David finishing agonisingly close to breaking the six minute barrier, George wasn’t far behind, followed by a ‘hungover’ Aaron, well he did finish his dissertation yesterday! Fiona grabbed a new personal best in under eight minutes and Annie went sub ten minutes on her first go at the time-trial, great work! After the group sat down for a minute or two (see picture), feeling on the rather exhausted side, it was time to head back to 1000 Trades.
A nice steady run back, followed by a quick stretch and that was job done!
Next week we will be out doing good again, it would be great if you could join us sign up here.
