Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Yianny (he / him)
All nine runners streamed into Papa's from 18.45. Some of us just about making it for the warmup. 👀
As part of our warmup, beyond among the butt kicks and high knees we played a little game. We went around in a circle and posed a true/false statement about ourselves which we'd have to guess. Those that got it wrong had to give us 2 burpees. We love a good burpee. After the stretching we headed over to Palace Road Nature Reserve, up Brixton Hill.
At the Gardens Gerry was waiting for us holding up a huge scythe. As soon as she caught a glimpse of it Dawn couldn't resist taking on the task. Or new reaper of Palace Road grass went for it, generating a pretty large mound of cut grass.
The rest of us collected shears and trimmed the sides of the paths to clear them up.
When we eventually downed tools after a good 40 minute's work, we were thanked by Gerry and headed back to Papa's. This time the run was gentler - downhill. At the traffic lights by the junction onto Brixton Hill, the notification for the day conveniently went off and I managed to capture our run mid action. 👌 (Much more interesting one than sitting at my desk).
We had a few stretches at Papa's and ended our session. Hope you all enjoyed it!
This small nature garden was created in the 1980s. It provides a varied habitat of both an open grassland and a wooded area of exotic and native trees. The pond attracts dragonflies and damselflies flying above and frogs and newts swimming below. Gerry always needs a hand to keep the paths clear of brambles and weeds and to make sure the public space can be enjoyed by everyone.
