9 nifty runners ran over 5km to do some gardening and clean out a storage container for The Bridge community centre!

We had another lovely evening in Greenwich last night! We welcomed a new face to the gang, Sarah - hope you had a great time, it was lovely to meet you!

Salt and pepper's here!

We started the run as normal with a warm up. Our favourite burpee based game made a comeback - chips & gravy - although this time we got creative and changed the food names.. SALT & PEPPER IT WAS! So basically you run around in an area and then grab someone, count to three and shout out either salt or pepper - if you both say the same one, you carry on about your business running around, if you both say different ones you both have to do 3 burpees! FUN! Well for me watching anyway haha.

We set off on our run, quite a short one on the way there, about a mile or so. It was already getting dark :( but luckily we had two head torches between us (thanks Ben! And you're welcome Alex :P ) so that made things a little bit easier. We arrived at The Bridge and were greeted by Raeleen, Ruth and little Henrietta who always helps us whenever we are there! The task this week was removing some strawberry plants from the beds to make more space for the gardening club to plant more plants! And also cleaning out the big storage container full of toys which gets used by the volunteers. Alex, Amy & Christian got to work on the strawberry plants whilst everyone else got to work on the container, pulling out all the toys, giving them a scrub down, sweeping out the container and cleaning the shelves. Once that was all done, we had the mammoth task of putting it all back in again! Toy tetris!

Let there be light!

About 5 minutes before we were due to go, Tom found a lamp in the container - clearly he was the BRIGHTEST one of all of us.... badum tss.

....Anyway.... the lovely ladies had laid out a little plate of custard creams for us to fuel our run home and fitness session and keep us going until our pub dinner later... thanks so much!

We made the run a little bit longer on the way back, not the prettiest of routes, but we got the extra mile in :)

Lightning speed fitness session this week in the form of tabata (20s on, 10s rest, 8 times). We alternated between 2 exercises: mountain climbers (great for the core as we all know by now, a strong core = a strong runner!) and squat jumps which really fires up the glutes and strong glutes help keep your alignment when running so your knees don't knock together etc! After 4 minutes, we were DONE! And ready to go to the pub! After some stretching of course :)

100% turn out!

I was expecting maybe half of us to go to the pub and a few people to go home but everyone came out which was great!!! We grabbed our bags, Vickie and I grabbed our bikes and to the Gipsy Moth we went. Such a cute little place right next door to the Cutty Sark. Alex booked us a table and good job too as it was super busy! Highlight for me was learning of Steve's sausage dog attack, Amy's Taylor Swift encounter and Tom's cramp attack when 3 lovely ladies decided to sit next to him mwahahaha!

Oh and I nearly forgot about the GIANT COURGETTE we saw. Oh my god. It was HUGE, probably the size of a sausage dog (sorry Steve).

What a lovely evening guys, thanks all so much for coming! It will be great to do this on a monthly basis and get to see more places in Greenwich too! Also well done on the task, that container looked so much better and it would have taken them forever to do that so really good job! See you next week!

Thanks for a great evening everybody. Is it weird that I am still thinking about that giant courgette?
