Another Tuesday night and another worthwhile half hour spent tidying the environs of the Grand Union Canal.
One no show and one late withdrawal due to unforseen circumstances but still up there with our best turnout number.
Lindsay and Sam led under strict instructions to double back to the tail every few minutes... and this they did with everyone else following suit and it worked out nicely.
We got to the "Melmobile" at St Maggies Pastures and picked up our litterpickers and bags and it was off to the canal for a bit of plogging.
It looked like the council had beaten us to it as the waterway was pretty devoid of major litter although with the tenacity of a sniffer dog Fran seemed to manage to find a rich vein of collectable trash.
A few of us discovered that the area is probably a site for romantic liaisons, I coulnt help but regail the famous scene from The Shining and if you dont know what I am talking about I will try to add a picture to the gallery!
We left the bags tied and tidily by the bin and headed for Abbey Park for a bit of core and cadence exploration. As usual, taking things seriously was completely absent, I have given up trying to keep control! But its not important, the fun everyone has more than compensates, and while you are having fun you are actually still getting the point.
I was particularly amused by Jimmys addition of the phrase "exterminate exterminate" to the straight arm running activity - still chuckling about it now.
A short jog back to the car to drop of the pickers and it was time to run back and stretch. Jen and Nicola M leading, for a while, until speedy Stu found his race legs but in fairness to all the regrouping was excellent tonight.
Lovely evening, lovely people, we did good and we got fit.
