Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Today we ran between 3 and 4 km and worked in the Community Gardens in Park Hill Recreation Ground. We headed up to the park after a quick warm-up in a local car park and found Josi from Friends of Park Hill finishing off a mural that had been started by a group of Body Shop volunteers earlier that day. She also suggested that one week we could come and add our own pictures to the wall so any artists out there are more than welcome. Josi also said she had a few thoughts on other tasks we could become involved in so really looking forward to those.
After admiring the mural of Jeremy the Stag we headed over to the Walled Garden and got to work in the Cicely Mary Barker Garden weeding and generally tidying up and finished off with some super speedy planting. Cicely was a renowned artist best known for her drawings of fairies in gardens which she based on children she looked after in her nursery.
It was a beautiful evening – warm, sunny and dry – almost as if summer had finally decided to arrive! So not wanting to miss the opportunity to enjoy a few rays of sunshine we headed into the main park and did some fun balance and coordination work – reverse lunges, square hopping and Y-squats following by “chase the leader”.
We also had a new member today Sarah - so a big welcome to her and hope to see you in a red t-shirt very soon.
Next week we will be heading over to Wandle Park for some litter picking around the bandstand, children’s playground and the skateboard area. We can also look at beating those times set last week for a circuit of the park.
Don’t forget that Lloyd Park is holding its annual Race For Life this Sunday at 11am so if you’re not running then please come along and support the runners.
The GoodGym Parkrun tour will also be heading to Lloyd Park in Croydon on Saturday the 24th of September. It’s posted up under Races so sign up and come along in your red t-shirts and meet other GoodGymers from different boroughs
