I imagine this is how Generals on the eve of battle feel; putting the finishing touches and highlighter marks on a map of the area to be conquered, before meeting up with an elite squadron of… flyer distributors?
Abandoning (most of) that metaphor, it was only the brave who ventured out on a drizzly Monday evening to be greeted by an almighty downpour JUST as the warmup approached! Sensible (and dry!) heads prevailed as we elected to proceed with another patented Lewisham “Mexercise” routine, whilst sheltering alongside one other outside Glass Mills.
Fortune thankfully favoured us as the rain duly stopped as suddenly as it had started and we were off up the hill toward Blackheath. With military precision, our unit split into 3 groups to conquer the surrounding streets by distributing flyers for the upcoming Blackheath Christmas Fair, in aid of Age Exchange.
With ruthless efficiency, every group returned to the rallying point with plenty of time left to “reload” and tackle a second set of streets each, before regrouping as ordered to toast the first outing for Adam’s wings – happy 100th!
The homeward run was pleasantly downhill, plus gave us a chance to reccy more streets in the area due for our conquering next week.
