An early Monday morning mission - the perfect way to start the week!

After navigating my way through the London maze at peak rush hour time, I arrived a little red faced to meet the fantastic red t-shirted Mayuko and the lovely Faye from Red Cross. This was my first GoodGym activity for a while (I was in foreign lands), and Mayuko is relatively new to the GoodGym squad but seems to have been doing lots of good already. And who knows, we might have managed to recruit a new GoodGymer in the form of Faye too.

Today's mission was to move a bit of furniture to make life easier for Ms. E. when she comes out of hospital. It sounded easy enough from the brief: move a bed, a chair and a bed side table. How hard could it be?

It turned out to be more of a mental workout than a physical one. The thought process went something like this: before we move the bed, we need to move the chair, but before we move the chair we better take the cushions off, then we can move the table over there, push the bed against the wardrobe and then put the table on the other side. Good. Now we need to move that chair over there, but if we move that chair there, then the cupboard won't open, so let's move the ladder over there first and put that chair on top of the other chair. Nope. We've just created a leaning tower of chairs. Hmm, ok, well let's try moving that chair where that chair is and then put the other chair on the bigger chair and then put this chair in the place of that chair and see what that looks like.

You get the idea...

The three brains got there in the end - mission complete.

A nice bit of morning exercise in the sun, the chance to meet two interesting people and play a bit of furniture tetris. All this, whilst helping out someone in the community. Not a bad way to start the week.

Chairs for reading!
