A hundred plastic bottles stuck behind the fence...
5 GoodGymers made their way to help the Portsmouth Residents & Visitors in Portsmouth.

Five GoodGymers applied ingenuity, nimble fingers and coordination of litter-pickers to extricate the rubbish and recyclables from behind the fence alongside Winston Churchill Avenue in central Portsmouth. Welcome to Kit who joined us for his first GoodGym mission after finding about us from Val at last week's Fareshare food bank collection at Tesco's. We were thanked by passers-by on this well-used footpath, with many people telling us that they hate seeing the litter out of reach on the other side of the fence. And as we struggled to reach some of the bottles and cans, we had an offer of help from student, Ben, who was pleased to see us clearing up the rubbish that he passes each day on his walk into Uni. Ben took one of the spare litter-pickers and borrowed Kit's gloves and stayed with us for the rest of the task while we cleared the full length of the footpath, learning about GoodGym on the way. A fruitful afternoon, filling 3 bags with recycling and 2 with litter. And hopefully we'll see both Kit and Ben on future community missions!
