The challenge last night wasn't running to the task, which was a relatively modest 2K, the real challenge was shifting a ton of logs with just 2 GoodGymmers present. The Easter holidays appeared to have taken its toll on attendance, with some of our regulars off adventuring in slightly sunnier places than Huddersfield.

However there was still a job to be done so Ben Godfrey and myself swiftly dispatched the 2K run up to Christ Church Moldgreen. GoodGym Huddersfield have been involved with the church over the winter, helping tame the churchyard after 15 years of horticultural inattention. A tree surgeon had been the previous week to take down some large trees, and transform them into handy logs. Come the winter these logs will be distributed to the old and needy members of the church congregation, but until the cold weather arrives they need storing. And this is where Ben and myself come in, conveying a ton of timber from the church yard and into the rectory garden for storage.

Fortunately the journey wasn’t so far and even more fortunately we had Chris, the Reverend Cheshire’s husband to help us out. As such we were soon on with the job, forward and back, forward and back, moving the wood to where it needed to be. It can’t be said this wasn’t a good workout, there were some jolly big logs, but a little muscle and slightly more determination go a long way in the world of GoodGym and 30 minutes later we were done. The wood was stacked and we even had a little time to tidy a corner of the churchyard which had accumulated so rubbish, so all in all yet another GoodGym job done.

Just 2K to run back to the Stadium again, and Ben and I pronounced ourselves well satisfied with the evening’s efforts....although we’re both hoping we get a few more GoodGymmers back to help us out with the task next week!

Church of England Church

We are a small Anglican Church, off the main roads of Huddersfield. We've just welcomed a new vicar in September but had a two year vacancy before that and it was hard for the congregation to keep up with tasks around the building. We'd really like some help tidying up the garden around the church - trimming shrubs and removing some, planting bulbs at the front of the church so it looks better next year, that sort of thing.
