Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Bristol runner
Aside from a little moisture on our travels up from the morning group run up to the north of the city, we were treated to a dry afternoon as we arrived at Mrs G's to help out in her garden.
Arming us with some shears, loppers and what could only be described as "superloppers", we were asked to tidy up a number of bushes at the front on of the garden with the special instructions of "so I can see out but the neighbours can't see in". Simples!
Doing a height check with Mrs G, we agreed on shoulder height and set about our task - Fi on loppers, Paul on shears and myself on superloppers.
Not wishing to hog the special instrument, Paul and I swapped over halfway through - well I nabbed the shears as he was raking up the waste as they were much more successful in getting a good trim going.
All the while Fi was weaving her artistic magic with the loppers (as well as befriending lots of different insects) before putting them to good use by chopping up the bush waste to make more room in the green bin.
Before long however the bin was full so it was time to resort to a good old jump up and down in the bin to make more room, enough so that we could fit all our clippings in as well as some previously chopped bush.
All the while we nattered away and in no time at all we were done.
Mrs G gave us the thumbs up and her thanks as we made our way our respective ways off home.
Job done!
