A Quick(ish) squeeze
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Islington.
- Thursday, 11th of February 2021
The day started well and I figured a 12’0 clock mission would be a perfect lunch run. Things don’t always go as planned. I had a work call, which delayed me and I wasn’t able to leave till 11:46 am. So I knew I had to rush and hopefully make it only a couple minutes past 12. At 12:04 as I am almost there, I get a call (and in my head.. I am like- OMG I am late) and it was from Amy at Goodgym. I start apologizing to say I am about 2-5 minutes away when she said, don’t worry the OT- Occupational Therapist and David are running late, so we should all be there around the same time. (sigh of relief).
Me and the OT (who was going to grant us access to Mr. P’s property) arrived around 12:10 and while we waited for David, squeezed a quick chat in while we scoped out the area to see where we’d be leaving the sofa. She also informed me of how thankful they were of GoodGym to be helping this last minute task.
Never to disappoint one, David arrived shortly thereafter, and we were on to our mission. (David had an unfortunate puncture in his tire which needed attention making his journey longer than anticipated.) - Kudos to him for dealing with all that and making it to the mission.
After maneuvering around and a bit of squeeze through the (three) doors, we were able to get the sofa out in the open for Council to collect. We said our goodbyes and quickly went back to our WFH jobs. Mission accomplished.
