A-rake at the crack of lawn for some seedy activities? It moss-t be a Goodgym mission
2 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Wandsworth.
- Saturday, 7th of July 2018
Ok so it wasn’t dawn, but 10am doesn’t rhyme with lawn...
Two runners helped Mr B take back control of his lawn from the some very persistent invading moss. First up was some vigorous raking over the lawn to pull up the moss. Mr B advised us to wear gloves for the raking. We didn’t wear gloves. We both got blisters on our thumbs. I’m sure there’s a lesson to be learned here about age and wisdom.
As we raked, Mr B regaled us with stories of his life in California when he would run 8 miles each way along the beach to play in volleyball matches. And there was me feeling smug I’d already done a Parkrun that morning.
After the raking, Mr B watered the lawn, I lay some lawn thickener and grass seed in the bare patches, and Hanna covered the seed in compost to stop the birds eating them. Mr B very kindly gave us some smoothies for the road and we said goodbye.
