Report written by Diya Singh (she/her)
GoodGym-ers of W&M wanted to do something to mark GivingTuesday, a global day for doing good (or as I call it, a "one day version of GoodGym!")
While GivingTuesday is yet to arrive (29th November), weekends are better for more participation and so we listed a litter pick for today.
Five runners (Kanika, Diya, Sol, Amy Ross and Anne-Laure) met on a soggy morning at Kidwells park while four (Georgeta, Gillian, Louise and Sophie) braved the elements for a solo clean-up around their neighbourhoods.
After rounds in the park, Sol continued litter picking all the way home; dropping lots of cans in bins including finding a trove of Halloween balloons. š š š
Apart from the park itself, Kanika cleaned up in the underpass leading to town and left nothing behind in her walk around the periphery on the roadside. š®
Last I saw Anne-Laure, she was busy picking up rubbish left by youngsters under the big tree on the back of the Community Centre. š®
Diya and Amy came together at the Baley Close path leading to Kidwells park and were disappointed to see heaps of bottles and cans strewn about :( š® š®
Good thing the communal rubbish bins were right there so we decided to pick the bottles and cans and tip them straight in. We observed Smirnoff is the most popular vodka, Desperados the most popular beer and apparently Pimms, also comes in a can! š„«š„«šŗšŗ
Our count may have been a bit off but I think we definitely filled 12 (rather large) bags of rubbish today. 1ļøā£2ļøā£
