Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Pauline Harrison
Sallyann had obviously had her Weetabix today, as she arrived promptly at 10am, ready to take on the bamboo bed, that had been blocking much of the sunlight from the garden of Ms S.
I, on the other hand, had convinced myself the start time was 11am...and had not even finished my breakfast...so, a quick change of plan, Rosie at the ready, I managed to catch the next train into Liverpool, ride up to the task and arrived at 11am...Parked my amzing Raleigh e-bike Rosie next to Sallyann's smaller, lighter and slightly more sporty, Rosie. ๐
Sallyann had just about decimated the overgrown bamboo, and had created a huge heap of greenery in the yard. So, armed with secateurs and not a little determination, I set about chopping it up and, in the process, created a fair number of bamboo canes that Ms S could use in the planting.
Up the steps there was quite a large shrub growing through the wall and into the street. Leaves from the same tree had been falling on the steps, creating a considerable slip hazard for Ms S.
These were soon removed, the steps and yard brushed, and the bamboo heap tidied up, as much as possible.
With wet autumn days, and winter approaching, Ms S was very grateful for our help. Hopefully, her rubbish will be removed and the bamboo roots dug up, so that she may look forward to a beautiful enclosed garden, come the spring.
