We're back!!! And what a day..March 30th and it felt like a summer's evening. Six of us met at St.Andrews church in Hove and were greeted with a huge fallen tree that had sadly died some time ago and finally fallen. We proceeded to move the main part of the trunk out of harms way as it was dangerously near to the turning circle of cars and also cleared a lot of the other detritus from the fallen tree. Susan, Frannie, Rosemary and Jason also set about clearing ivy from gravestones, tombs and the blast wall. It's a blast wall as there used to be a huge gas holder where the Tesco now stands and the wall was built to protect the church in case the gas holder ever exploded! Sherman and I cleared old branches and general rubbish and then I was told about the famous people buried in the church grounds....one being George Everest, whom the mountain is named after in this part of the world. The Nepali name is Sagarmatha. His wife Lucetta is buried next to him. We managed to clear a lot of old tree and we all left with a song in our heart and so happy that we're up and running again.
