Sarah and I arrived and got right to work with dismantling a bed to be moved outside for collection by the council and to make room for a hospital bed to be delivered and put in its place. Starting with lifting the mattress (the lightest one I've moved all week as a mattress of fact!) and moving it outside, we were ready to move onto pulling apart the bed frame. I'm aframe it was a little trickier than we'd expected! Armed with screwdrivers, we were not just screwing around! Some screws were a bit rusted in places and a bit more stubborn. No loose screws here! Sarah got creative and suggested we take a short cut in the dismantling and go for making it a folding bed frame as she folded the wood at the joints where the screws wouldn't budge! Before long, three pieces of a bed frame were folded into one and leaning up against their mattress on the pavement. Next we went into the front room to move a very heavy armchair reclliner. Lesson remembered too late: bend your knees to squat and lift with your leg muscles and not your back to prevent injury! One runner has some stretching and a sports massage on the cards for recovery! Just as we had finished with all that needed moving, the hospital bed delivery van was pulling up outside the house! Ms F said it was sad to see us pulling apart her old bed and moving it out but we know she'll be more comfortable in her more accessible new bed from the hospital.
