20 runners met at the Folk House for a fast flat run to Millpond School to help fill up some new flower beds with gravel and soil.
It was another fine evening for a run, and it's got to that time of year where you have to chose if you're wearing long sleeves or not -when you run you're hot but when you stop you cool down! Kim also now has a serious clothing decision to make - does she wear the traditional red t-shirt, her 50 run worthy black t-shirt, or the brand spanking new 100 runs 'wings' t-shirt?
We had a lovely run through the city - traffic light stops have become tricep dip opportunities, and we stopped to regroup on Corn Street where someone was playing a jig on a pipe so we had no choice but to break in to the GoodGym version of Riverdance in honour of St Patricks day.
Dancing done, we ran on to the school where we grabbed barrows and shovels, gravel and soil and began to fill up some large containers that had been built recently for the kids to plant food related plants in. Another bunch started to attack a few stubborn stumps with mighty grit and gusto, and lastly Richard B got handy with the staple gun and fixed some membrane in to a slightly less finished container.
The barrows were barrelling around the playground, the shovelers shoveled like mad, the diggers literally threw themselves into the task of uprooting tree stumps - the usual GoodGym frenetic pace served us well and after about 30 minutes, nearly all the containers were full of soil.
Sadly there was one stump who refused to budge - if only we had a mattock! Perhaps that's a job for another time, as we ran short on minutes and had to run back to the start. More tricep dips on the way back at traffic lights (we'll use this route again, I think!) and of course a good stretch at the end.
Team, don't forget to tweet about this and use the #useyourrun hashtag! We're lagging behind the London lot for tweets so we need to show them how we do it here in brilliant Bristol!
