SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Last night in Hounslow two keen bean GoodGymers took to the streets to deliver a pile of flyers advertising classes at the Town Hall, smashed out a fitness session and even managed to spread the GG word - proving that all it takes two to make a team. After a terrible day for London, it was more important than ever to do our bit to try and strengthen our capital's communities. It was time to do some GOOD.
After a quick warm up, we set off with our pile of flyers discussing the glute-toning merits of rolling blading - big up to the fabulous Alicia who is training for an incredible rolling-blading marathon in a few months. It turns out that the two sports are pretty well suited - both strengthen the cardio vascular system and really work those major quad and glute muscle groups. Maybe our next GG race could feature a Blades V Legs route?
With each of us taking one side of the street each, we posted the flyers through the doors of Hounslow in no time - even slipping in a few GoodGym leaflets too. We picked up the pace a little on the way back to the park, where we got stuck into an effective little session. We aimed to work the three major areas we need for running - core, legs and arms by doing 45 seconds each of three exercises per area. Half way through the core section we were stopped by a passerby asking for advice on strengthening exercises for abs, which of course we were only too happy to give whilst trying our best to recruit a new member. Keep spreading the good word, people! Then it was on to a short session on form, thinking about how we can improve our arm drive and knee lift.
Great job, team Hounslow. We have more of the same next week, when we'll be off to help out at a local organisation before working on our own fitness. Sign up here - there's no better way to spend your Wednesday night!
