Report written by Bristol runner
Ahh, a long Easter weekend. Fish, hot cross buns and Easter eggs. All nice on their own but I’m not sure I’d have them all together. One of these would get eaten at the end of the race.
On Good Friday morning we descended on Chippenham. The air buzzing with eggcitement. After collecting our fetching ankle bracelets and deciding which ankle to put them on we started our warm up. Left leg swing, right leg up and down. Reverse, switch around. We were ready and it was really starting to heat up.
10, 9, 8, 7, ...
We were off. Andy leading the way with us all following down the meandering country lanes. Past couples and families who had set out tables outside their houses and fantastic marshals making sure we didn’t get lost. Hi Elmo!
On a day so warm you could cook an egg on your forehead (makes a note to try it sometime) we were all speeding along. First across the line in a gob smacking 59:59 was Andy in 8th place. Then Alex in a PB of 01:10:34 followed by our very own PB, the one and only truly original Paul Becker. One by one we eggstatically sprinted across the line cheering each other on before the tough decision of which Easter egg to go for!
Feeling eggshausted we sat down and eggsamined our eggcellent medals whilst tucking into our eggs.
A lovely way to start the long Easter weekend with a nicer group of people you’d struggle to find. Well done everyone. I hope you all enjoyed it 😊
