Seven steardy runners turned up this evening to do a Community Clean Up in our local community parks.
Shout out to Ricky who just completed his 3rd Half Marathon yesterday at Richmond and bagged himself at great new PB. He’s on a roll recently! Been doing a bit of Goodgym tourism over at Hounslow and Richmond, as well as keeping the Ealing crew company…new T-shirt coming your way very soon!
After our welcome brief and task overview, Run Leader Sut Yee led us outside to do a dynamic warm up. Lots of jumps, mountain climbing, lateral running and more jumps..Thanks Sut for warming us up nicely.
Every Litter Bit Helps
As we were staying in our base park this evening, our ‘run out’ consisted of a 1km loop run of Salt Hill Park. We then divided into two teams …Team Jean and Team Ricky and started on our litter pick scavenger hunt. The added task this evening was to tick off the alphabet with our litter pick of treasure.
As Salt Hill was already looking fairly clean, Team Jean decided to go through the tunnel of doom and cross over into Baylis Park and focus around the pond area.
The pond is so lovely, just a shame those poor ducks have to share their water with plastic rubbish. But we refuse to let them suffer too much…Jean and Sandy were on a mission to clear any rubbish they could (safely) from the nearside of the pond.
Wheelie Bin Paying Attention
So the added task of listing all the litter collected and ticking off the alphabet proved to be a litter bit more tricky. Team Jean did manage to complete the task…Team Ricky were missing a U, X, Y and a Z….must try harder next time
There was a treasure trove of findings tonight, including a complete denim outfit! Cans of beer seemed to be the order of the day, alongside plastic bags and food wrappers. A litter bit of care and attention would work wonders on keeping our community clean.
All in all we managed to collect over 8 bags of rubbish between the two teams.
Core You’re Fit
To end the session we did some core work. Planking it up, adding in high 5’s, jumping over planking bodies, inch-worming to high 5’s were just some of the drills! Great work by everyone
