Five goodgymers helped urban green cutting down trees and litter picking in Harbottle park on a cold winters morning.

We were cutting elders trees and removing branches on one the parks borders. This was to prevent the trees from blocking the light into the flats to the side of the park and allow more decorative plants to grow in the border with shade reduced. We also did a litter pick as a lot of rubbish had gotten caught under the old trees. Most interesting find was a chimney probably from the flats.

We stopped half time for the usual tea break with hot drinks and biscuits, including some chocolate orange Oreos. Had a nice chat about pranks and how even primary schools have a leaving hoodie now, what ever happened to everyone drawing on your white shirt with sharpie?

During the tea break a local cat appeared and didn't seem too impressed with the lack of trees. It didn't hold it against us though and came over to be petted.

We got lot of park users commenting on the good job we were doing with our huge pile of felled trees for the chipper. We are back in the parks in 3 weeks time so look out for the listing if you want to get involved!
