SESSION ORGANISER
Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Thomas Mather
Thursday saw us return to the East End Women’s Service for our weekly volunteering session! The task as always was to organise food parcels for their volunteer drivers to deliver, and to pack more bags ready for a delivery later in the week. We smashed through our tasks in record time, and even managed to give their food storage area a good organise (with labels facing forwards of course).
We were joined by Anja who came along to earn her first good deed, and of course the stalwart of the food bank task, Michael. They both promised not to tell Sam that I was actually ok at tidying, because I’m currently maintaining the idea that I’m rubbish to avoid doing it at home. Here’s hoping the secret doesn’t get out!
East End Women offers practical courses for women to build confidence and skills around DIY, sewing, pattern cutting and basic trades. We also deliver the Freedom Programme domestic abuse recovery course, helping women to better understand the roots of domestic abuse and build confidence to identify warning signs in the future. In addition to this, East End Women also offer social activities and drop-in sessions for women experiencing isolation to meet one another, make friends and build local networks.
