Last night, 4 GoodGym runners accompanied the Friends of Meath Gardens in a brave battle of Humans vs Hemlock.

Some facts you may not know about Hemlock;

  • It's deadly poisonous, 6-8 leaves ingested can kill a human

  • It's a member of the parsley family and looks like an ordinary weed (look out for purple blotched stems!)

  • Shakespeare witches in Macbeth used root of Hemlock in their brew

  • Socrates drank a cup of it when he was found guilty of impiety

  • It can harm cats, dogs and other animals

  • It smells pretty blummin' bad

  • It's all over Meath Gardens (or not anymore!💪)

After an introduction from the lovely Joanna from Friends of Meath Gardens, we quickly got to work in our gloves to uproot the bad stuff which have been giving the local residents of Meath so much grief. Easier said than done, as these guys REALLY did not want to be uprooted.

The on-pour turned out to be a welcome refresher during the uprooting workout and we got most of the Hemlock out and disposed of before heading off to join Laura's work out in the park (or quietly amble off to eat an extortionate amount of pasta in my case 😏) Thanks for showing up in the rain everyone!
