Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Adam
On Sunday morning, Armistice day 11/11/2018 three runners were preparing themselves to head out and help Mr. W with his garden. We all arrived there together where Mr. W welcomed us in and directed us to his garden.
The garden was 10 by 25 yards, where one third was a laid patio next to the building and the other two thirds was covered in pebbles. This was where there were plenty of weeds had grown through. Mr. W advised us he was looking to create an area where he could relax and enjoy being outside.
Along one of the fences a grape plant was growing from his neighbour's. He said he was very lucky as his neighbour wanted to have the plant flourish and as long as Mr. W didn't mind they could share the spoils. All over the pebbled area were weeds growing.
We then asked for him to confirm want he wanted to keep, to be sure that we didn't remove any plants that he wanted, he happily advised us what to keep and what to get rid of. After hearing what was to remain, Adam went to trim back the grape plant and then collect and clear up the leaves and grapes that had fallen on the ground.
Ellen and Nic, put their gloves on and went to work with clearing the weeds and tidying the other plants to make the whole place look radiant and peaceful so that Mr. W can fully enjoy his garden.
After a filling three whole bags full of weeds and branches, Mr. W was very happy and offered us a refreshing glass of water before we ran back. We found out how Mr. W had travelled around Cardiff and only recenty moved in, hence the garden needed clearing.
Mr. W was very impressed with the results :)
And well done to Nic and Adam for doing their first mission run with a big thanks to Ellen with the great amount of help she offered.
