Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Sevan
Ms C had requested GoodGym's help because the dried up well outside her front window had become a flood risk, with vegetation and litter covering the bottom. It was surrounded by a railing that Kash and Sevan peered over, trying to see the bottom without success 🕳️
After being given a bucket full of tools, first Kash climbed over the railing and abseiled down to the bottom. Sevan followed, a little less gracefully as the railing was quite tall. Luckily the bottom of the well was brightly lit, so they had no problem seeing the weeds, the spiky vines, a tree around 2.5m tall and the truckload of snails!
Everything that they removed needed to make it back to the top of the well to be bagged and disposed of. Kash started by chopping the weeds at her feet and passing them up to the surface. Sevan meanwhile decided to tackle the tree that was growing out of a crack in the concrete. A firm push and the tree toppled with the roots coming out too. The tree needed to make it to the surface too, so it was launched like a missile up and over the railing 🚀
Kash and Sevan got on to tackling the vines and 20 minutes later the bottom of the well was clear of any growth. All that was left to do was for Kash to clear the drain of dirt, then join Sevan in chopping and bagging back at ground level.
In no time at all, they were done, leaving Ms C safe in the knowledge that the flood risk at the front of her home was now safe.
