Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

It seemed like forever since my last GoodGym task, but there I was in front of Mr. D's door thinking about all the recent COVID-19 online training and measures I need to take before introducing myself. It was good to be back wearing the black GoodGym t-shirt, heck, it was good to go for a long run with a purpose.

I used my allocated brief exercise to run 6.6k to Mr. D's door, only to find it slightly ajar. I thought about everything once more before knocking on the door. I realised upon knocking that the money and shopping list was in an envelope on the floor with my name. Yet, Mr. D still came to the door to say 'Hello' and introduce himself. I told him who I was, but I didn't want to stick around for long as I am conscious that I may have the virus and didn't want to pass that on.

With the shopping list and money at hand, I ran to the closest superstore, which was literally 5 minutes jog away. However, as soon as I arrived there was a long queue forming outside the supermarket with everyone standing two metres apart. With no special pass or badge to jump the queue, I joined at the back and waited patiently to get in. Once I did, I could feel how eerie the place was with no or little music, queues forming for the checkout and everyone looking depress. Yet, I concentrated on the task at hand, but the items weren't in order or categorised thus I was going back and forth, looking for items I normally don't buy - spam, decaf coffee, liver pate... Though, I vaguely knew the aisles they were in. After snaking around the supermarket and joining the large queue to get to the checkout, I finally paid and headed back to Mr. D's place. I placed the envelope with the change in the shopping bag and knocked on the door to alert him. He was very grateful and appreciative that I got his groceries for him. However, before I left I told him to take a warm soapy cloth and to wipe day every item before storing them away and to wash his hands too! It was such a pleasurable experience - I didn't something so basic like grocery shopping could have such an impact. I wish him all the best and to stay safe during this COVID-19 crisis!
