The Old Alleyian Rugby Club Green Team meet every last Sunday of the month for a morning clear up of the grounds in and around this community club. Occasionally, parents of some of the rugby kids get involved, but often a member of GoodGym is also present.

Yet, this morning, it ended up being Ian (the task owner) and I. Still, it is better to work in two than alone for these tasks.

What Ian had installed for me was a mixture of raking and clearing out the ditches on the area of the rugby grounds. This is in place to ensure the pitches don't get waterlogged. This task is done before the heavy rain (expected to come in the Autumn) comes and clogs up the nature drainage.

Ian started off by chopping the ivy, weeds and anything else that was growing in the ditch, whilst I raked it up onto the bank before we ended the hour and a half session by collecting the cuttings/leaves in a builders bag to put on the makeshift compost heap.

There will be another Green Team volunteering mission with the Old Alleyian Rugby Club at the end of October, however, GoodGym Southwark Group Runs in a few weeks' time will be there before.
