Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! Or, let's go on a GoodGym run and help Bristol out by stopping the snow. The fact is that it so rarely rains on a GoodGymBristol run, that it's been postulated by weatherfolk that we actually influence the Gulf Stream and other weather patterns to prevent rain from falling in Bristol. After all, if a butterfly flapping it's wings in the Amazon brings tornadoes to China, imagine what 20 odd runners can do, pounding the pavements!
21 (to be precise) runners, including new chaps Amy, Maria and Pete gathered in the warmth of the Folk House for our first Tuesday night run of 2015. We started in style - somewhere both indoors and flat to run to? It must be the Scrap Store. (note that there's never actually flat run in Bristol, and there was a big hill involved, but most of the way, it was flat!).
As always, a cornucopia of tasks awaited us; disentangling telephones, taking the legs off chairs, cutting rope and fabric in to lengths, chopping up cardboard and taking thread off spindles. Time simply flew by, and the groans of sadness that were heard at the end were akin to a group of kids being dragged away from their favourite park.
The run back seemed to be a bit faster than the run there - perhaps anticipation of a cold and wet journey home gave our feet wings, and as further proof about the weather controlling abilities of GoodGym Bristol, the moment the group disbanded and I hopped on my bike to ride home, it started to rain again.
A hearty welcome to the new guys, and a gutsy happy new year to those returning. See you all again soon!
