Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Gosia Rybacka
Raymond and Gosia helped Mrs B with a general tidy up of her front and rear garden today ๐ฑโ๐ผ. Due to her ill health she is not able to take care of it herself.
The biggest work to be done was cutting the hedges. The overgrown bushes immediately caught out attention as we arrived. Mrs B mentioned that that there was a group of volunteers from Age UK coming in regularly to do it but since they stopped there is noone who could handle it for her ๐คทโโ๏ธ. She also said that she would be even ready to pay someone but is not familiar with technology to find an appropriate service on the Internet ๐ฉโ๐ป.
Mrs B opened for us a little garden shed where we found secateurs and hand cutters โ๏ธ. We knew right away though that the job ideally requires power tools โกโกโก and that we definitely won't be able to sort it all out on today's mission.
We picked one space cutting of which seemed to potentially make the biggest difference (to let more sun in ๐). Raymond grabbed a ladder and secateurs (which were luckily very sharp) and jumped straight into tackling the task.
In the meantime, Gosia grabbed another pair of secateurs and took care of trimming the smaller bushes around the garden. Took a pic of a beautiful rose in full bloom ๐๐น. From time to time she were popping back to the hedge to help with tidying up the but branches lying on the ground ๐๐ฎ.
The work was supervised by neighbour's cat ๐. Her rather grumpy face was definitely not a reflection of the quality of work we delivered on the day ๐๐๐.
We finished after around 1.5h, and discarded six bin bags full of leaves, branches and sticks. Mrs G thanked us for the help and she definitely had an intention to ask GG for help again.
