Find out about GoodGym TaskForce

Hampered by a cancelled train from London Bridge, Sam rushed to find the nearest alternative. He took the bus to Peckham, but time was against him. He arrived at 18:40, enough time to get changed and start his GoodGym speech. It was a welcomed sight to see Clare, who had been living in the area for over a year and a half, but decided to give GoodGym a try tonight. Welcome again!

After explaining all about GoodGym and the amazing tasks that are coming up, Sam ushered everyone out for a warm-up in the alleyway. "Right foot, right foot, left foot and jump" was just the start of his warm-up as he sped through some quick heart elevating exercises.

As we introduced ourselves, Sam's ice-breaker question tonight, was to do with the fact that it's Halloween on Monday: What is the scariest film you have ever seen?

We had the not-so-scary Paranormal Activity (although, it was at the time....) to a cult classic The Shining and everything in-between. Make sure to see a horror film this weekend or just watch the news...

Ian Scissor-hands

After running through East Dulwich on a uphill trajectory, we arrived at Old Alleynian Rugby Club where Emma and Ian were just starting on trimming as we were 3-5 minutes late (blame, the traffic lights and not my lateness...). As we were told of the simple task to trim back the overgrowth that was growing from the Rugby Club and onto the South Circular road, Benjamin showed up with his bike. Everyone chose their weapon of choice to tackle the ivy and branches that were in the way. Ian did take Daryl and Gemma away for more or less half of the session to cut back on low trees that would hamper the parking for larger cars that come over the weekend when parents drop off their kids to train.

The rest of us got stuck in as Sam brought out his RnB playlist and caught up with everyone especially newbie Clare.

The 40 minutes breezed by and this time, there was no time (or light) for a rugby or fitness session. However, there was time for a group photo and a lovely chocolatey treat from Ian to boost us on our run back.

We said our goodbyes to Ian as well as Benjamin and Emma who rode to the task. The rest of us ran via Dawson's Hill to take in the sights of London skyline before rushing back to the Old Spike to finish on time.

Thank You to all the GG-ers

A personal thanks from me to all those who came out tonight! It was a such a delight to have nine GoodGymers at the task including newbie Clare. It was a tough uphill run to Old Alleynian Rugby Club and a longer, but scenic run via Dawson's Hill back to Old Spike. Thank you all!

Thank You Ian

GoodGym is all about getting fit and doing good! We praise the runners/cyclists/walkers who come to get fit and help out, but we often forget about our task owner. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Ian for inviting us to Old Alleynian Rugby Club despite the darkness of the Autumn months, but he always has tasks and treats for us!
