Despite frost we still rose to the challenge
3 GoodGymers made their way to help an isolated older person in Bristol.
- Sunday, 7th of January 2018
Mrs A was surprised to see the three of us eagerly waiting on her doorstep today as she thought it was far too cold for anyone to dream of gardening.
Luckily her garden was in the sunshine and the walls protected us somewhat from the wind. Mel the GoodGym plant expert taught Paul and I how to prune back roses (snip just above the lowest ring and don't be afraid to hack them back). Paul and Mel chopped away happily at the bed of roses whilst I gathered a whole box of sticks we think probably arrived after the neighbours had been having a new year garden tidy.
I ripped out lots of wall flowers, before Paul noticing how much I like attacking plants handed over the seciters then made a very good effort of scraping the pathway of moss. Together we filled the compost bin to the brim with weeds and trimmings and then went home to warm up.
