Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Olivia Waller
Really glad that I was able to help out with the Felix Project today. The Popular Depot was massive. I was helping out in the kitchen for a number of tasks. There were around 15 volunteers in our section from different charities and individuals.
My first task was rather straightforward and relaxing - sticking printed labels on plastic lids so that other volunteers could fill the boxes with delicious food.
I was then working with big trays of cooked rice and gave them a good ‘massage’ so that they could be easily put into the plastic boxes.
My next task was to transfer trays of cooked potatoes into tubs for the other volunteers to put them into individual plastic boxes.
My final task was standing in the production line and put food in the boxes.
The morning shift finished quickly when I was chatting to the fellow volunteers and listening to the great music that Louis, the coordinator, had specially selected for the volunteers.
We then all paused for lunch at the other side of the depot. I was able to find out more about individuals, their experience with the Felix Project. Together we had made 3161 meals in the morning! Bravo!
The Felix Project is a London-based food redistribution charity set up in 2016 to tackle food waste and hunger.
