Joining us for GoodGym tonight....

Simon, Alex, Sarah and Scott, which as Alex points out gives us the acronym SASS which means that either we are a sassy bunch or that we are Syntactically Awesome Style Sheets. You decide.

Scott first heard about GoodGym quite a while ago but was joining us for his very first task this evening. And Alex is on his tour of GoodGym areas and is on the "B"s at the moment. Tonight was also Alex's 200th good deed! Give him a cheer. Oh, and Bromley is the tenth GG area he's visited so he also earned his traveller badge

Off to Downham Community Centre we ran. On site we were tasked with clearing a rather long bed of weeds round the back of the centre. We donned gloves and pulled, yanked and twisted, forked, raked and picked away until things were looking much clearer.

Conversation turned to races. Scott's looking forward to the heat of the Race to the Stones 100km ultra marathon in July, Simon is taking a break from the track to go long with his first Marathon in Abingdon in October, Alex is sort of doing his first marathon in New Forest in September (he previously did Marathon du Médoc, but that was basically a drunken stagger) and Sarah likes the idea of the Disney Half Marathon.

Before we knew it we had been going for 25 minutes, so packed away tools, had a glass of water, said hi to GG Lewisham's Conroy who was hanging around in reception waiting for his daughter to finish Tae Kwon Do, and made a move.

On the way back we had to go down a hill then up a hill, so that's a perfect opportunity to get stuck into a few downhill reps and uphill reps with technical pointers along the way. Then a jog home, a quick stretch and we were done.

We're back at Downham Community Centre next week to continue with what we started.

See you there,
Simon
