Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Patrick Luong
What a huge day! Four seasons in one day, the first deed for local hero Libby and my first deed in E17 - we wish we could stay another day to improve the garden even more and enjoy the hospitality of our musical hostess with the mostest
Our host, Hilda (not real name), had been in her gorgeous home for 28 years. She and her late husband used to look after the great garden but a big garden is a big task as the years go by, especially as she has back and dexterity issues.
I schlepped across boroughs to meet mission and GG newbie, Libby, in Waltham Forest.
May the forks be with you
Our task was to pick up where two GGers left off (they mowed the lawn and started the weeding) and we were told to almost clear the beds.
A few select green specimens were given right to remain: the rest were turfed out!
Looks really can be deceiving as the earth was pretty solid and the weeds were deep rooted. The weather forecast was also totally off and we ended up with:
We dug deep and put in a solid two hours plus a break for coffee and chocolate cake (!). We chatted, we forked around, we bagged up. We learned that our host is in a choir and sings opera and has friends from Japan (hence the gorgeous Japanese espresso cups!).
Well done Libby! First deed done. Summed up with Earth, Wind and Choir
