Who washes the washing up bottles? Well today we found out that it is in fact Amy, who was tasked with rescuing the stack of washing up liquid bottles which had been rather unceremoniously chucked into the cage for dispatch. This had damaged some of the bottles and covered the rest in detergent. She had to weed out the ruptured bottles and put them in a pile to go, while cleaning off the good bottles in the sink. So what do you get when you clean loads of bottles? Plenty of bubbles.
Amy had arrived before me and was packing up and stocking, before she went off to start the foam disco in the back room. I was paired up with some wonderful TAWS employees who manage their community cafes around the city. We were putting together food parcels which they give out every week to people who have been housed off the streets and are living in hotels. These people have no access to benefits or any other means of income so are mainly reliant on these parcels. They also have very limited cooking facilities in the hotels so the parcels are packed with food that can be heated easily in their conditions.
After Amy’s 3 hours and my 2, we were able to catch up with each other before setting off and leaving them to it at the foodbank.
