It was a windy Saturday afternoon when we were greeted by Ms L's daughter. She showed us into the living room and the sofa she wanted moving outside, in order to make room for Ms L's adjustable bed.

Our first step was to take the sofa out into the back garden, ready for the council to collect it. Sounds easy, right? It was brought into the house in one piece, so it had to go out the same way. Well, it was trickier than you'd think. manoeuvring the larger-than-usual sofa out of the living room, round the hallway, into the kitchen and out of the back door certainly got us in a sweat! At one point, we were worried that it was completely wedged in the back door, and it took a fair deal of pushing, pulling, twisting and turning, but finally... we rolled it out of the door and down the steps! Step one: complete.

The second part of our task was to bring down Ms L's adjustable electric bed. Moving her bed downstairs will give Ms L more freedom, and allow her to watch the television, so it was really important for us to get it to the living room. Upstairs, we had to take the bed apart, which was a bit of a challenge without instructions. Unplugging the wires and remembering to put them in the correct order felt like a challenge from The Crystal Maze, but luckily Lucia was the right person for the job! Once the bed was in two parts and it was unplugged, we had to bring it downstairs. Ms L's daughter was worried we would struggle with the weight of the bed, and while it wasn't light, we were able to manage it. After the success of removing the sofa, we were confident we could manoeuvre the bed parts down the stairs, through the kitchen and hall and into the living room. And we did it! Despite a few wobbles on the stairs and a couple of pauses for breath, we got the bed down safely.

Finally, we had to put the bed back together. Lucia knew what she was doing with the wires, and after a couple of attempts to screw the bed together securely, we were finished. Ms L's daughter was delighted that we could help and we hope Ms L enjoys her new bed!
