Tonight Goodgym Bexley were heading back to school to learn about Dementia. The walkers left early so not to be late whilst the runners put in some extra warm up before taking our planned run route to Park View Care Home.
On arrival we were greeted by Jo and Rosie the resident dog. We headed into the day care and was blessed with a fabulous insight to dementia and a chat about the home and everything we will be able to do to help. Needless to say i don't think this will be last time we will be visiting Park View as we already have a task date penciled in the diary.
The special part of the evening for me was when one of the residents was trying to tell me something but i couldn't understand what. I knelt down to get level but still i couldn't understand as she was talking in another language. Then BAM!!! Shareen, one of our goodgymers step forward and started talking in Turkish with the lady. Her face lite up when she spoke to Shareen. I have to tell you, it was a very special moment. The power of Goodgym and it's volunteers. Just wow......... See you soon Park View.
