Filledup Baggins
1 GoodGymer made their way to help an isolated older person in Lambeth.
- Thursday, 10th of September 2020
"I've just been watching my spiders, look at that one, I filmed it building its web" were the words that greeted me as I arrived at Ms M's door and I knew I was in for a treat. She was below the walkway in her patio garden, which has been her oasis during lockdown. As i delivered her bags of shopping, she told me about what she's been doing to keep herself busy over the past months. As an active and vibrant person she has been hit particularly hard by the isolation caused by COVID, first because her many medical difficulties prevent her from going far even if she were allowed out, and second because of the death of her partner. Add to this the fact that he was her main source of food shopping and she was in a pretty desperate state. We had a lovely long chat about her partner, her cleaning regime, and especially her passion for The Lord of The Rings. She watches the films on repeat (it was on for the duration of the visit), has been saving up for a trip to visit Hobiton in 2021 and is even learning elfin. I managed to keep quiet about the fact i haven't seen or read any of them and I think I got away with it, at least she didn't seem too suspicious when I changed the subject and said she'd hope to see me again sometime. I'll have to do my homework.

Amazing mission Frances - Ms M sounds like a very special person.
Wow, what an interesting lady to help. Feels like you did much more than shopping to support her and sounds like you bluffed your way through Lord of The Rings - well done!
