Ms B used to be a very keen gardener, but recently her deteriorating sight has meant she’s struggled to keep her very neat garden tidy and in shape. She had previously been visited by another GoodGym mission a few weeks ago, and having been impressed by their hard work and weed/not-a-weed identification skills, Andy and Remy had a lot to live up to!

We were given a quick brief, offered a selection of tools – got fully stuck into the task at hand. After a quick circuit of the garden to pull up the few weeds that had managed to survive the recent heatwave, we were able to spend most of our time working on the bigger jobs; Remy cutting back and shaping the conifer trees, Andy hacking away the laurel hedge overhanging the shed, and both tidying up the large yew tree that had been attacking anyone trying to follow the garden path for a wander through the garden.

After hefting three dustbins full of clippings to the compost heap, and a tour of the garden showing nothing more to be done, we reported back to a very grateful Ms B. She invited us in for a cup of coffee and a chat, as well as a bonus mission for Andy to replace a blown lightbulb and replace a lampshade (that counts as a second good-deed, right?!)

We left Ms B to enjoy the results of our work, opting for a scenic run through Richmond Park. Splitting off at Mortlake, Remy stretched out her run home to a whopping 22 miles as part of her upcoming marathon training – at this rate she’s going to smash it!
