Brrr - what a cold night it was but it didn't stop eight incredible runners joining me in Brent to run nearly 8km and help our old friends Abbey Community Centre!
We were joined tonight by Emily who had heard of GoodGym from a friend and joined for her first run and Liz M who was touristing from GG Camden - welcome to you both! After a quick intro to update on the Jan Challenge and talk about our starter challenge this Saturday (also at Abbey) we headed out into to the cold.
We did a quick warm up to get the blood flowing and then we were off for the run down to south Kilburn. We all kept up a good pace and worked hard to pump ourselves up the hill to the Kilburn High Road. We soon arrived at the centre and there met Simone who co-ordinates various activities at the centre. She handed us a stack of flyers and as it was the first run this year to distribute flyers she said we were free to go wherever we wanted.
We headed over to the Alexandra and Ainsworth estate, more commonly known as Rowley Way. Here we split into two teams and then worked our way along the estate. With the architecture of the estate it meant we were flyering along the lower levels and up on high on the top levels too! After a good 25 minutes it was time to call everyone back and return home. It was a great effort from everyone and I'm sure that is the most homes we have managed to delivery flyers to in a night!
After returning the flyers that hadn't been delivered we headed back to the Queensbury. After stretching quite quickly due to the cold we then headed in for some brownies (thanks Karen/M & S) and had a deserved drink.
Hope to see you on Saturday for the starter session and be sure to tell everyone you know about it - otherwise come back next week to get fit and do even more good with GoodGym Brent!
Cheers, Pritesh
