Croydon Report written by Ingrid Buchanan
Ruro, Ros, Liz, Paul, Ian, Nikki and Ingrid braved a cold night for a community mission at Croydon Refugee Day Centre. We gathered at our usual meeting place and were delighted to see fellow GoodGymer Conroy and have a quick catch up.
After making our way to the centre, we were met by Simon who gave us our tasks for the evening. These included ensuring clothes were in the correct size order on the rails, were labelled and removing any summer clothing. The session ended with us moving all the rails into the storage room. This is more of a squeeze with each visit, we're not sure whether there are more rails or the room is getting smaller!
After saying our goodbyes to Simon, we made our way back to the meeting spot.

Liz, Ros and Ingrid joined members of the East Croydon Community Organisation (ECCO) on a thankfully rain free night to help tidy up the flower beds along the Boulevard.
Tasks included sweeping leaves, litter picking, weeding and planting flowers in a memorial garden.
At the end of the evening we had collected 13 bags of litter and leaves for the council to collect.
We said our goodbyes, wished each other a Merry Christmas and looked forward to many more successful missions in the New Year.

Four good gymers braved the cold weather to help local refugees to find warm clothes.
Ian, Ollie and Liz enjoyed a brisk jog to the centre, whilst Ingrid arrived at the task earlier.
The task was to remove the empty coat hangers and to tidy the rails, so that the clothes were arranged in size order.
The final task was to move the rails into the store cupboard.
Well done team!

The group were greeted at the Croydon Refugee Day Centre by Simon, who informed us of the tasks for the day.
We welcomed Danielle to her first session and also Khai, who was visiting from Greenwich GG.
After a busy day at the centre, the first task was to collect the empty coat hangers from the racks. The second task was to label and hang clothing items. The team completed this swiftly and asked for another task! The third task was to sort children's hats and leggings by size. The final task was a game of clothes rail Tetris, to move all of the clothing rails and boxes into a tiny store cupboard.
Well done team!

With head torches shining bright for our first community mission since the clocks changed, Liz, Ollie and Ingrid joined volunteers from the White Horse Community Garden for a litter pick.
We even found a shopping trolley which helped with transporting the bags to the drop off point.
This was our first visit to the Community Garden and we enjoyed a thankfully rain-free evening with tea and biscuits offered in the hut afterwards.
