Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Ben Parkes
A lovey sunny evening greeted the Barnet Goodgym crew, with our mission tonight of helping out our fantastic hosts the Phoenix cinema.
We were just about to set off and Paul arrived, with a full suitcase in tow...perfect we thought for delivering flyers, but alas it was full of clothes from his travels around the country.
Hazel got the party started with her bluetooth speaker, which is amazing by the way!! I'll be spreading the word in other areas. If you want to add to Hazels spotify Barnet playlist then Click Here! and have your choices played out next week.
Add your own songs so you can dance and run!
We headed up (why did it always seem like we were heading up hills all evening!) to a small patch of grass for a quick warm up, with some high knees, butt kicks, stat toe touches and lunges.
Boys Vs Girls!
Now warm and ready to go we ran on over the North Circular and then split into two groups. Nothing like a bit of competition to get the task completed. Damien took the lead for the boys with Graham, Paul and Paul and I stayed with the girls heading down a parallel street.
We must have had around 300 flyers, although by the weight in my bad it felt like 3000! However Freya suggested a leapfrog tactic, with the added bonus of it keeps everyone running.
We were flying through the houses and soon met up with the group of boys again, where Paul said they were getting some very positive comments for what they were doing. Always lovely to hear.
I did forget to include 'don't flick the rubber bands at each other' in the risk assessment, so Graham and Heather decided to start a mini war in the middle of the road, but it soon descended into giggles and laughs...everyone is too friendly in this group!
It was time for a group photo, with jazz hands to show we'd finished the flying and had no left. Awesome job team Barnet!!
Hazel started the music up again and we ran back to the park for some sprints, planks and tricep dips on the wall. I thought this would really finish you guys off, but it shows Barnet are one of the fittest Goodgym areas. I think they could be a team to watch out for at the Goodgym Olympics, have a read here if you want to know more and get signed up!
We then jogged back to the cinema for a warm down with stretches and to share the love with the Barnet Biscuits.
An extra Goodgym well done to Amanda who completed her longest ever run tonight. Brilliant work! Give her a cheer!
Pretty and Maya I hope you got home ok and enjoyed the M&Ms!
Well done everyone, it was a super evening, so much fitness and good achieved!
