Ms M was in need of some essentials, so I visited to collect her shopping list and made my way to the supermarket.
On my return she was delighted that I was able to get everything on her shopping list. This meant not only would she have the essentials she needed, but also a few extra bits to spend some time baking.
Ms M has plans to make some scones and a delicious chocolate cake - not only will she get to enjoy the tasty treats she makes, but baking appealed to her as a way to spend some time doing something she enjoys whilst having to stay at home.
On her doorstep, we talked about our mutual appreciation for gin and discussed places each of us had visited in the UK and would love to visit again once travel for leisure and holidays are allowed.
Ms M also shared how she had been feeling recently and appreciated not only the help with shopping whilst she is shielding, but also having someone to chat to when dropping her shopping to her door.
Visits like this are so important for vulnerable members of our communities, especially right now, and by being able to help in what seems like a small way has not only lifted Ms M's spirits but it has lifted my spirits, too.
