Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
25 runners completed two great tasks across Lambeth, including raising awareness of a new community fridge!
One group decided it was as fine a night as any for a long steady hill climb to West Norwood to help out John with a mystery task.
Arriving at the Portico Gallery we were met with some strikingly atmospheric lighting. Was our task to assist with production in a nighttime photoshoot? Well not quite. But we did help with some urgent clearing of leftovers from the regular West Norwood Feast.
It wasn't long before all was looking good and tidy again. In the process we overcame some semantic struggles with the distinction between a tarpaulin and a cover. We also succeeded in winding away the never-ending cables that powered the mood lighting and created numerous health and safety hazards.
Then came the much more accommodating downhill return run. Where we were greeted by Beth who acquired muffins while we'd been away. Nice work Beth!
After waving off the runners heading to the portico we went for a warm up jog down Ferndale Road and headed over to Pop Brixton to admire and get to know the Brixton People's Fridge. Leaflets in hand we split into two teams - Team Market Row and Team Brixton Village. A few places had already shut up shop for the night but those that we did get to speak to were interested to find out more about the fridge and hopefully will be going to the launch event on February 8th. A quick trip back to the fridge allowed us to pick up some muffins to take back for our long running friends and we headed home happy to know that we helped get the word out about such a wonderful project in our lovely borough.
