Find out about GoodGym TaskForce
Report written by Kash
I was very grateful when I found out this mission was eventually listed to be done over the weekend. I was curious to visit Southall but that would mean running or walking 5.3 miles each way from my house - not a lunchtime gig! The mission category was shopping, something that I usually sign for (not that I have done enough to calculate statistics!). The distance to cover to get there was decent but the task itself was not physically demanding. The shops were within less than 10 minutes walk which felt like a breeze. The couple I did shopping for was so kind that they provided me with a big trolley. And I mean BIG - I could probably fit inside it. I must admit I was a bit unsure about one thing in Southall - blending in - given my hair and flashy red shirt. But I underestimated the latter! In Iceland (if you missed that, it is a red & white themed brand), people kept asking me where is the sugar or kebabs. I was part of the crowd. Dear GoodGym, if you need to send someone to infiltrate something more secure than a supermarket, you know who to call. I wish I knew where everything from the shopping list was located, so I asked the REAL staff members and they turned out to be very helpful. Sadly, I could not get a special type of chocolates and biscuits. After the Iceland bit, I went for the easy part and visited the fruit & veg grocery store and butchers. The lovely couple that I helped, were very welcoming and we enjoyed a chat after the mission. They seemed very keen to see me again next time to do some spying in Iceland... I mean, to do their groceries!
