Wednesday 16th June 2021

On Wednesday 16 June, Helen, Alice, Mary, Max and Jane met up in the beautiful Sydney Gardens to help out with some summer gardening tasks. The initial plan was to prepare an area to be seeded for lawn, but with the amazing weather of the last couple of weeks, the ground was too dry and the plan changed: we were tasked with watering a parched area of the gardens.
This gave us our upper body workout for the week, as we needed to fill watering cans at the tap point, then carry them around 200m to the flower bed. Before long, nature decided to help us out and the heavens opened, bringing the plants some much-needed rain and our arms some much-needed rest. For the remainder of the task, we switched focus again to planting wild carrots and admiring the soon-to-be blooming sea of sunflowers.
