We had a great task this evening of helping our local tennis club with clearing out the overgrown weeds in their tennis courts

Every few weeks we like to introduce starter sessions for those who want to see what Goodgym is about so this evening’s session was one that was a little kinder to those running legs and a nice local task in our base location park.

Rain didn’t stop play

We started with our usual welcome brief and warm up. Ace to have a new runner, Qin join us on her first session. A special swing by by Ivo too! Great to have you join the Slough session. And also great to have a local resident and tennis court user, Luisa join us for the task element.

After around ten-ish minutes of doing warm up laps around the park we bounced into the tennis courts to meet George from GDT tennis club for the task brief. He basically just needed the weeds eliminated as they were causing a pain in the back-hand to his young tennis club users

Slough is lucky to have a supportive Parks Team, they very kindly loaned us their gardening tools for the task. I know I have a reputation of never returning anything however this time I’ll make sure I return the serve (ice)

Doubles are better than singles?

In most of the tasks we do it’s always easier to pair up and work together. Not only do you get to take advantage of the helping hand, you also get to have a mini break when the action gets too much. Maybe sometimes being single can be better especially if you are set in your ways and can’t stand the racquet of your partner.

Thistle be the end of you

The area around the courts were infested with weeds that were causing the younger tennis players a few cuts and scratches when retrieving the balls.

So with our weapons of moss destruction (i.e. the runners) and some ground breaking shovelling effort from Darren and James the task was done in no time at all.

Great efforts be everyone. The determination on your faces to finish the whole fence line is a testament to the efforts Goodgym Slough put into each and every task we do. Emily even saved a little caterpillar and found him a new place to hibernate. And Qin ... nobody would of thought that this was your first session with us, you fitted in so well...hope to see you again next week

We cleared 7 bags of weeds in the end…all in 40 minutes! Result!

In/in Out/Out

Not a game of tennis but an agility fitness session to end with this evening. Two sets of three exercises back to back! The foot work was on par today…not a foot fault in sight

40 – Love

It’s spin a long time since we had a few drinks after our session, but today was a special day as it was Ricky’s 40th birthday (well it was last week), so he kindly bought in cakes for everyone

Happy birthday Ricky and well done for getting your 50th parkrun also in last week, Certainty was a winning week for you.

Next week's group run is a longer distance on 4km each way to Wexham Park Hospital.

Have a great week everyone and see you next Monday Manjit
